Spoiled Brat

I'm talking about myself. I am totally spoiled. S.P.O.I.L.E.D. Jane and John (John's dad, that is) have absconded with the baby monitor every night and have been dealing with the inevitable wakings three times a night to retrieve Lambie, while John and I have been sleeping blissfully unaware in the basement. It was like the clock was turned back to 2004 for the past couple nights.

The flights went well--Becca was not in her car seat and did MUCH better. She even watched the Barney DVDs, without headphones. We kept the volume way down, but she could hear it just enough. She had lots of lollipops and some new toys I picked up at Target (good ideas in the travelling comment section, y'all! Thanks! I love the idea of gift wrapping the new goodies for the airplane ride!)

We've been eating some good, down home southern cooking--dense, heavy, wonderful banana nut bread, and shrimp and grits, for example. (I never knew such divine perfection existed in the world. Shrimp? And grits? Together? Cooked in bacon and onions and cream? Yum.)

John and his dad went out flying in a cool red Cessna from way back. Jane, Becca and I went to the Greenville Zoo where we saw monkeys and goats and elephants and reptiles. Becca is demanding all eyes on her, all the time, and loving it at usual. There is talk of a guy movie today--possibly Beowulf--and an interactive children's garden for Becca.

Life is good. I am definitely relaxed. So relaxed that I can hardly fit into my jeans. I keep stuffing my face and it isn't even Thanksgiving yet! Bring it on!

That makes it ALL worth it. I love when the responsibility is taken off of me. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to be able to see my kids for the fun stuff and then not again until another fun outing. Enjoy, and can John and Jane come to my house, say next week? :) Can they adopt my grandkids too?

Um, the sleep thing? I kind of hate you right now.

Marie Green...I know!! I totally know. I hate myself a tad, too, for accepting it!

Wonderful. Wonderful! Yay for you!

I haven't had this experience yet. Even though I've had a lot of relief from grandparents during the day, noone has ever taken night duties away from me (except when I had surgery and that doesn't count.) It sounds heavenly.

Oh, my goodness. What a precedent Jane is setting! Eeeekkk! You may have to bring her along when you come to visit us! We'll build a new bedroom on...

I'm drooling. I am also jealous, insanely jealous, of the sleep thing. We're having a severe shortage in our house lately. Too bad you can't bottle it up, you know?

Good for you getting some good sleep!!! I love shrimp and grits!! I just made cheese grits the other day for a squadron function, and I was so mad when I went through the line and they were all gone! I was secretly hoping no one else liked grits! Gotta love not having to cook much. I just finished my holiday baking for the week: sweet potato casserole and pecan pie. I am done!
