Safe Discussion Topics: Weather, Health and Politics

What is WITH the weather? It is like Alaska-cold around here, but without the pretty snow and aurora and beautiful light, and with nonstop ass-buckling-cold WINDS. Yuck.

So, I haven't left the house since Friday night (and that was just to go down the street). I haven't driven away from my driveway in, like...what? 6 days? Or something ridiculous like that. This is very, verrrrry unusual for me. I usually leave the house at least once a day or I start to go a little insane. Not this week.

Tomorrow is the day I get out! John's dad, (John) and Jane are arriving tomorrow afternoon to come visit. Normally I am very anal about having the house clean when houseguests arrive. This time I am just hoping to get the dishes done and the door knobs Lysoled. I have my doctor appointment (please, Doctor, please clear this ever-flowing snot from my sinus cavities and my lungs!) and I get to VOTE! In my first ever primary! Also exciting: My vote may actually count this time! I am always the one blue person in giant red states (see also: Texas, Alaska) but for once I am amongst allies. And, we have a very exciting election process this year (at least to me it is). It is nice to see the candidates campaigning around the state. And I am very excited to take my snotted-up self into the local elementary school and spread my germs everywhere. Woot!

Awwwww....come on...don't you miss being in a red state? :)

Where's John when I need him?

Congrats on getting to escape tomorrow, and for getting to vote! Our primary (OR) isn't until May 20, which is so late. Not like it matters much anyway, it seems. Blah.

I don't get to vote in primaries. I am registered green - don't flame me! Have fun with your family! It will be nice to have some company. Hope all goes well at the doc. I am definitely on the mend and the sinus headache only appears in short bursts and at 1/3 of the power.

I am glad you get excited about politics. I hate election season! I do vote, but watching debates and things on tv make me sick at my stomach. Red or Blue! But this year will be an interesting year.

Being five hours ahead of Eastern Time and nine Pacific, I can't watch any of it. I try to catch up the next day. But, am so out of the loop, I probably won't be voting at all. When I do get updated, it is via the internet b/c Olivia dominates any TV that we do turn on. Sorry to disappoint all you staunch voters.

I know, I am so excited about this election too! Obama and Clinton are going to be in Austin the end of Feb. and I'm going to go listen to them duke it out.

Hey, I think you should come home for a visit around that time and we could go together!! (But only if you're for the same person I'm voting for...psyche!)

Obama here to say "Hi" to Yap's Blog Friends!

Just remember: there is no "red" America, there is no "blue" America, there is only the "United States of America!"

Nice job Maryland! Minnesota welcomes you to the Obama crowd. We want our country back.
