Birthday/Mother's Day Extravaganza!!

John really outdid himself this year. Last night I was allowed to open one gift. This one.

DUDE!!! I got my first video game! And you haven't seen anything until you've seen a pregnant woman in her sweats rockin' out to LEGENDS OF ROCK in the basement. Ever since this party, I'd been telling John how fun Guitar Hero is and how I actually liked playing it. He said as he was looking at it in the store, some 30-year old suburban looking woman was standing there gazing at it and saying, "That is what I really want for Mother's Day!" I wonder if she would like to be my friend.

So, we had a showdown last night. John totally beat me and he'd never even played it before!! He is such a video game geek!

This morning the party continued with John getting Becca up and making me scrambled eggs (with my new favorite ingredients, parmesan cheese and cream cheese--I know. Sounds weird, but is awesome. Yum.) I opened two more gifts--the two I made detailed requests for--600 thread count sheets and this. It is a broom! And a vacuum! I was truly excited to get it. My life has definitely changed, and somewhere my 20-year old self is cringing and rolling her eyes. But, without Canyon around, and with my belly getting bigger, and with a constantly snacking and never-still toddler around, the crumb level on our kitchen floor has reached critical mass. I'm tired of wiping crumbs off my feet. This puppy will pick up an entire french fry and it doesn't poop in the yard either!

Then, we went to church and Becca didn't even cry. She loved it. And she made me my first homeade Mother's Day gift. And I cried.I am going to frame it and hang it on the wall forever, and Becca will be bringing her kids home some day and will comment about how I still have that dumb thing on the wall and it is all faded and why would someone let their kid go around with such a rash on their face, hugging a purple dinosaur... and that isn't even a good picture of her and maybe I should take that tacky thing down from the wall. But I won't.

We went out for lunch and took naps. It really doesn't get much better than that. Except it did. John also gave me flowers and a birthday cake and more gifts--a maternity shirt, a massage certificate, and a camera tripod (finally!) It was such a fun and relaxing day. I was totally spoiled.

I think it may go down in history as one of my very best birthdays! Until I saw this picture, and realized that I'm entering the realm of Pregnancy Face.
So soon? I thought that wasn't supposed to happen until the third trimester. And then Becca slipped on a book I put on the stairs and fell down six of them onto her head on the wood floor. But other than that, it was perfect. And I am going to end it by curling up in my new luxurious sheets!

Now that is a birthday. Happy birthday weekend! HUGE brownie points for John. You have to tell me how you like the broom vac. I have wanted one of those for almost two years now.

Oh my god, I love Guitar Hero! I played last night. Thank god the host is a total game dweeb, so he didn't mind humoring me long after everyone else was bored!
Sounds like a fantastic day! I am in denial about preggo face. Just deny it and no one will say a word :0)

Wow, your husband rocks!

Pregnancy face? You look fine! Have you seen me lately? I still look pregnant. I cannot lose these last 10lbs for the life of me and it shows on my ass, stomach and face (notice double chin). My 18-year-old 105lb self is ashamed of me for falling in love with Paula Deen's cook books and sitting on my fat ass and blogging when I should be outside running after my kids!

I think your face looks faulous. You are one lucky lady! Thats sounds like an awesome weekend. I, like Tracy, want a product review of the broom vac. My boys love guitar Hero. I can't seem to get into it. I'm asking for the Mama's cook off game for the Wii.

That cake has me drooling!

Sounds like the perfect birthday/mother's day combo. I think it's so funny you wanted guitar hero. Wes is addicted to Rock Band which is the full band version (drums, guitar, etc) of that. There's nothing like grown men hanging out in the basement all night playing a glorified version of air band, well, except maybe a pregnant suburban wife strumming away at Guitar Hero in her sweats. Gotta love it. Happy Birthday!

The best Mother's Day EVER was May 11th, 1975 - the day you were born!
