11 Years

Our 11-year wedding anniversary was yesterday. John and I celebrated by eating at the fondue restaurant The Melting Pot. We are usually the kind of people who go out to eat and wolf our food down in about 2 seconds and then leave. Going out to dinner is never a long, drawn out experience for us. But, this dinner took 2 hours. We had four courses and took our time with each of them. We had cheese fondue for an appetizer, then salads, then the meats dipped in a delicious broth/wine/garlic fondue mixture and then dark chocolate and marshmallow fondue for dessert. Yum. Yum. Yum. I didn't take my camera along because, along with my sparkly silver heels, I took a tiny faux Louis Vuitton evening bag, and my giant Canon Rebel didn't quite complete my outfit. But, I sat there twitching about not having a camera for a good portion of the meal. Then, I would tell myself to stop it! I don't have to document everything. Some things can just be remembered as they were. It was a great anniversary dinner.

Happy Anniversary, John! I'm so glad I married you. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

I LOVE the Melting Pot! I could just go for dessert.

We used to be fast eaters. That doesn't really happen in Europe. We will be disappointed when we move back to the states and are rushed through our meals. Except when we have a cranky kid.

Had to add to Angie's comment.

Matt and I have decided (and we have friends who, after living in Europe, do the following already) we will tell our wait staff in the US that they'll get a BIG tip for just going away and only come to us when we wave our hand or catch their eye (this only applies when we're w/o the kids), as we do here. When we first arrived here, we thought the service was so rude! We were just served our meal and ignored! Then, we learned that wait staff have a salary and don't depend on tips at all. Besides, socializing and long, lazy dinners are a way of life. We LOVE it now and I think I'll find the service in the US next month really rude. Rushing us out and tallying up all the tips they are missing out on while we take our time to eat! How dare they?! :)

Oh, how we enjoy our two-three-hour dinners!

Happy Anniversary!
You guys are a great pair - and a terrific threesome - almost a fab foursome!

Well, they GAVE AWAY your honeymoon suite before you got there - even with John's credit card on file. That would make a good blog story! Your faithful readers would certainly be entertained!
