Snow (Ice) Day!

We got a few inches of snow, and then it turned to sleet and then it froze (or something like that.) There is a nice layer of ice on top of everything and later it is supposed to rain. John and Becca went out to shovel the driveway this morning. I stayed inside with hot coffee and a baby.
Becca wanted to make a snow man, but ended up with ice chunks instead. Everything is SHUT DOWN around here. Schools, doctor offices (Andrew's four month appointment was supposed to be today), and more importantly, FLOOR INSTALLERS. No one is doing ANYTHING. And I am here looking at this. Progress, but not enough of it.

We are all kind of huddled in the front room. John's on the phone. I'm on the laptop. Becca's on the portable DVD player. Andrew's napping in his crib.

Not much going on. And that is the problem when you have paper for your kitchen floor and everything in town is closed down.

I'm a little jealous that everything is shut down there. I love those days!

Closed Down????? After Alaska that must give you the giggles. If Minneapolis closed down for a day like that, we'd never be opened up!

Holy cow that looks HUGE! I didn't realize they had started laying the floor on the first day. Grammy Bonnie is right. It does make me giggle. I could see the schools, but really, buisnesses? WHIMPS!

I remember being shocked the first super snowy day in Alaska, when we were going to school. Of course, we didn't have a layer of ice on things. School did close down a couple of times while I was there for freezing rain.

I would be very frustrated that the floor people weren't working. It doesn't look like it will take them long once they get back to work, though.

A "winter storm" was forecast for Austin last night - that means sleet and ice. We had visions of hunkering down with a fire in the fireplace (hurry - get that fire started while it's cold!) and hot tea. It didn't materialize to more than ice on trees, wires, and windshields. Roads are DRY! School is ON! Today is bright, beautiful and crisp, but it's getting too warm for a fire!

Bonnie...TOTALLY. John and I laugh so hard over how wimpy Maryland is. If it just snows half an inch, it seems they close schools. It is hilarious. I mean, Texas was like that, but it happens EVERY YEAR here. You would think people could get it figured out at some point!
