Oh Em Effing Gee Let's Change the Subject

Please. I need something else to occupy my brain power (diminished as it is by lack of sleep and worry). But still.

So, I need some new music. I don't ever listen to the radio and I sure as hell am not out listening to cool live music. I have no idea what is even out there these days in the music world. I need some new songs on my playlist. Can you recommend some good stuff? I really want some good up tempo music. Nothing depressing.

Come on. Tell me your favorite song. Please. I'm begging.

You should try Pandora.com or Last.fm - you just put in a song or an artist you like and it will play music of the same genre, style, etc. Say you like U2, you enter "U2" into the search bar, and then it creates a "U2 station" and plays similar music in style, acoustics etc. And, it's FREE!

There is so much good stuff out! I'm a total music dork so I hope you don't totally hate everything I mention

I'm loving Flo Rida - Right Round. I'm not a huge hip hop/rap fan, but this song is super fun and catchy. The new Kelly Clarkson - My Life would Suck Without You is great. All of the new Britney Spears stuff (told you I was a dork). Lady Ga Ga - Just Dance and Poker Face. American Rejects - Gives You Hell

I could go on like this for a while, so I'll just stop and hope you find something you like.

Flo Rida rocks plus is so fun!!!! Also, anything Coldplay (sounds U2-ish to me). Good luck!!!!

You need some good Texas music your trip was cancelled (delayed?) due to barfing. Put on Pat Green or Rbt Earl Keen.

I can't get enough of the latest Kenny Chesney - Lucky Old Sun - the whole CD is awesome - it's mellow and island-y, has Dave Matthews and others in duets. I have it on the iPod, in the car, and at home :-)We have several feet of snow here, I enjoy thinking of someplace warm with boats and a tiki bar.
I must also admit I love the new Brittney stuff too - for something more upbeat.

And beyonces should put a ring on it (or something like that)

The following is a speech given recently by the music department head at Boston Conservatory about the significance of music - definitely worth the read! It'll keep your mind off the flu.

The Scripts are good as is Erin McCarley. Just two of my new downloads.

For some upbeat things, check out Little Feat, Ain't had Enough Fun. The woman who sings on that album has a great voice and there are a few catchy tunes that I go to for a pick me up.

I can't use Pandora here. But, when we move, I'll be all over it!

Here in Portugal, Duffy is popular. I love her. Jazzy/Soul. She's a Welsh singer. My girls LOVE her. Sing right along. Too funny. We also love Beyonce's latest. My girls dance to Should have put a ring on it and If I were a boy.

Real Simple mag suggested downloading the Itunes free single of the week.

I'll have to check out the new Kenny Chesney. Especially the Dave Matthew's duet. I'll also have to see what's new with John Meyer.

Like you, I'm behind on what's new out there. I like how I don't have to download a whole album off Itunes. Pandora will be good b/c I can listen to music I'm thinking about purchasing.

I agree with Tracy on the Beyonce song ("Put a Ring On It"). Also been totally loving "Come on Get Higher" by Matt Nathanson... mellow, but upbeat :)

Oh my. You have been having the week from HELL. I'm so sorry. I hope all gets better soon.

I second the recommendation for pandora. Great stuff.

Favorite music for me right now is Pink's new stuff. Upbeat and fun.
