MONSTER STORM OF DOOM RUN FOR YOUR LIVES OMG!!!

Here we go! Another media hyped event! This time it is the STORM OF THE CENTURY! A BLIZZARD OF GIGANTIC PROPORTIONS!

It is hard not to get freaked out. Our local gas and electric company is expecting widespread and long-lasting power outages. Sleet! Snow! 26 inches predicted!

You should see the grocery store parking lots and checkout lines (I stole this image from the Web, but it is representative of what goes on around here). I needed gas in my car yesterday (I always wait til the gas light comes on, after all). And I could hardly get anything to trickle out of the pump. There were lines at the gas station and the guy next to me was filling up multiple gas cans.

Yesterday I made a stop at the liquor store to get some bloody mary fixin's. Can't be without that, you know. Then, I decided to take Tracy up on her offer for a Snow Storm Sleepover at her house this weekend. We are both husband-less this weekend and why not be together? Plus, she has a wood burning fireplace so we can stay warm no matter what happens. I don't think she likes bloody marys though. She'll be having blueberry martinis.

I am hoping to relax, stay warm and have some fun. I hope everyone else can do the same. And I hope against hope that my son decides he can sleep in a pack and play for once.

Please post blueberry martini recipe. We're getting less than six inches here and everyone is freaking out too.

A friend of mine posted on FB: We are out of milk. When you see us at the grocery store, we are not stocking up for the storm. We just need milk.

It is pretty funny. I don't remember ever stocking up for storms anywhere I've lived? (except, of course, crazy people for Y2k)Of course, I can say that now, because I live in CA, where we are expecting a bit of rain this weekend. I would actually enjoy some snow, though.

I think in Alaska we just didn't get these monstrous storms....at least I don't remember any. Seemed to be a more stable winter environment! Or, we were just ALWAYS prepared/stocked up....

You two are AWESOME. A snow storm sleepover? AWESOME I say!

Though I really can't believe you are getting MORE SNOW. What did you do to piss off the gods? Because they are DUMPING on you this season.

Katie, I think in Alaska the snow is just expected and so you buck up and move on with life. I know living in Washington I'll will frequently be one of the only people out in the snow at the store. I grew up in Alaska so to me its just snow.
