August 19, 1967

My parents were married 40 years ago today in Minneapolis, MN. We three kids were so lucky to have such wonderful parents who set such great examples for us in so many ways. Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad!

If you don't mind, let's fill up the comments section with good wishes and good memories! I'll start.

I remember lots of road trips to Minnesota with the "Griswolds." I used to beg and plead to be allowed to eat at McDonald's, but my parents usually insisted that we either picnic in some nature area or try non-chain mom-and-pop places. I would roll my eyes as I watched the Golden Arches disappear in the distance, but now I am so glad they did that. We got to have many more off-the-beaten-path adventures.

Happy Anniversary!

I am also fairly sure I was totally bershon with my walkman for most of those road trips. I am not sure how/why they even put up with me.

I was there! I was the Maid of Honor, and I am still honored every time we are with your dear parents. Happy Anniversary, Caroleva and Jack!

Thank you so much for your love and good wishes!

You guys did so well with the flat tires, the all-nighters, and cleaning fish before breakfast! How many people have had the privilege of eating at the Kum Back Lunch in Perry, Oklahoma?

We have been blessed with great kids and supportive family and friends. And we love our kids' friends, too! Back in 1967 we could not have imagined how rich and adventurous our lives would be.

We have reached the half-way point! Forty years ago today, we told each other that when we are 100 and 103 years old,
respectively, we will jump off the Washington Avenue Bridge together! (Surely it won't collapse before then...) That's still our plan.

Love you all!

Susan, broccoli? bananas? beans? butter? bacon? blueberries?

Your Mother is just beautiful!

Cheers to you and your family!

I hope the bridge doesn't collapse before then. Because then you might have to jump off the Mopac/183 interchange and that will just be ugly! :)
