Awww Sweatahs Fai Dahlla

I can't believe I am admitting this, but I miss the five-dollar-sweater-guy in Korea. I never thought I would miss anything in Korea, and certainly not the perpetual hangover. But, really, I miss that nasty, stinky little closet of a shop where every sweater was $5. Had to be at your favorite bar at 3 p.m.? Nothing to wear? Spilled soju on your shirt and are too cold to continue wearing it? No problem! Just step around the huge trash piles, plug your nose and swing by the five-dollar-sweater-guy. Then, on your way to the bar, buy a new black leather fake Coach tote bag to stick your other shirt in! [Nostalgic Sigh.....]

I also kind of miss the street vendor yakimandu on the way home from the bars.

Side note: It is probably for the best that I wasn't blogging when I was in Korea.

I loved the flight suit. I actually thought about wearing it for Halloween, but since it was a party for kids, I didn't think it was quite appropriate. I loved the fie dallah guy. I still have a few of his sweaters. I do actually miss Korea. (not the smells, dirtiness and everything not quite right, but) I loved shopping and the lack of rules etc. Unfortunately, I was pregnant for most of it, so I didn't have too many hangovers. I never got to have a orange freeze soju drink. They looked amazing. I did have the grape soju at the Hurricane. MMM yummy! Great post, brings back great memories!!

Cheryl...funny story about the green suits. I was DEAD SEAT against having a flight suit. Why would I want a flight suit? I am not a pilot. I don't want to be a pilot.

Then, I got to Korea and was told they are PARTY suits. Now...parties? Those I like. I was told that as soon as the party suits went on all hell broke loose and you KNOW I had to be a part of that! It was actually fun, even though they are hideous!

I wish, so badly, that we could do the whole Korea thing. It is on my wish list of places to go...weird, huh?

I love my party suit and wonder when I will ever get to wear it again. I guess it is not out of our possibilities after here! I wouldn't mind going with next time. I always enjoyed my visits and my shopping trips ;0)

Aaah, Korea. If nothing else, at least we went. It's an experience, that's for sure! And the shopping, the Shopping! I miss that! I do not miss the smells or the crazy drivers, but I miss the five dollar sweaters, real bibimbap, and yaki on the way home from the bars!

I know you were dead set against them. I remember the conversations about that. That's why it's so shocking! All in all, I know I would have owned one as well and been right there standing in line at the vodka luge!

Erin...your comment made me laugh out loud! I don't know what to say other than, it was Korea and I was drunk.

Angie said...

Were you drunk when you bought the suit? When I first saw the picture, I thought it must be some kind of work uniform that you were forced to wear.

Katie said...

Well, I am not sure if I was drunk when I actually purchased the outfit, but I'm sure I was soon thereafter!

I think everyone who hasn't lived/visited Korea needs to know it is"the land of the not quite right!" If you look up Korea in the dictionary, I think it reads drunk or hung over from being drunk!
